    Maryland State

Jewish tradition teaches that in a just world, all people — regardless of race, income, or zip code — would have what the Torah calls dei machsoro, resources sufficient for their needs. Join JUFJ's Fair Share for Maryland Working Group as we work to pass the Fair Share for Maryland Plan so corporations and the wealthiest pay their fair share.

  • DC Fair Price Fair Wage Consumer Awareness Meeting

    DC

JUFJ was proud to endorse Initiative 82, which eliminated the subminimum wage for waiters, bartenders, parking lot attendants, nail salon technicians, and others who rely on tips. But now, restaurant owners are trying to undermine the initiative with confusing junk fees to increase their own profits at the expense of workers’ tips. Consumers bear the brunt of the cost, and workers’ earnings are suffering. Join the Fair Price Fair Wage coalition on Zoom to learn more and take action.

  • Maryland Purim 2024 / 5784

    Maryland State

Purim is a joyful Jewish holiday that commemorates the story of Queen Esther, who used her power to help her community during challenging times. We are packing 250 gift bags (half in Baltimore, half in Rockville) to deliver to statewide and Montgomery County elected officials. Join us in packing bags, delivering bags to legislators, donating supplies, or donating money to offset the cost of making all of this happen.

  • Sine Dayenu 2024 Celebration!

    Maryland State
    Lawyer's Mall
    100 State Cir, Annapolis, MD

Sine Die is Latin for “adjourning without a future day,” and Dayenu, the title of an important Passover song, means “it would have been enough” — at JUFJ, we combine the two! As we prepare to celebrate at “Sine Dayenu,” we remind ourselves that each victory that we and our partners achieve in Annapolis is a necessary but not sufficient step toward collective liberation. Our work must continue until all of us are free.

Join the Housing Security Working Group for a refresher on the budget process and to learn about the programs and policies we'll be pushing for alongside our partners.

  • Montgomery County Racial Equity and Policing Team Meeting

    Montgomery County

Jewish sacred texts declare that destroying even one life is akin to destroying a whole world. But here in Montgomery County, lives are destroyed every day, especially Black and brown lives, by our systems of policing and school discipline. Join us for our next team meeting to discuss ongoing campaigns to transform public safety in our County.
