JUFJ Understanding and Dismantling Racism Program

The Understanding and Dismantling Racism Program is designed for the JUFJ community to increase our collective capacity to understand and advance racial justice within Jewish spaces and in our local work for justice in multiracial and cross-class coalitions. Over the course of five 90-minute Zoom sessions, and an hour of homework between each, participants will increase their knowledge and awareness of racism and other structural oppressions; develop a deeper, shared understanding of JUFJ’s approach to racial equity and justice; recognize their own role in perpetuating and/or dismantling white supremacy; and feel more motivated and better equipped to continue working toward racial justice.
No matter where you are on your racial justice journey, this program will build alignment at JUFJ and be part of our growth together toward collective liberation.
We are offering this program for free. We invite participants to make a donation that feels meaningful, between $18 and $180.
Who should apply: People who are active JUFJ leaders and community members. While this program is designed for white people, everyone is welcome. We are capping the program at 25 participants. If we hit capacity, we’ll create a waiting list.
Dates, Times, and Topics: The program will be five Tuesday evenings between July 21 and August 25, 8:00-9:30 PM on Zoom. The first session is 7:30-9:30 PM. There is no session on August 11; during that week, we will ask participants to check in with a buddy (chevrtua partner) from the program.
- Session 1, July 21: It’s not only “out there,” it’s “in here”
- Session 2, July 28: Unlearning and relearning ourselves: Seeing Unconscious Bias and its Effects

- Session 4, August 18: The Intersection of Antisemitism and Racism
