We Are Ready! This Shabbat – on Saturday, September 6 – that means praying with our feet. JUFJ and Sixth & I – in partnership with Bend the Arc, T’ruah, and other Jewish organizations and synagogues – will hold a Shabbat Service to sing, pray, and hold each other in community. After the service, we will gather and march together as a Jewish contingent in the We Are All DC march and rally.

Local unions are providing multiple free buses from Baltimore on Saturday, September 6. Buses depart 9:15 AM sharp and will return by 6:00 PM. Reserve your spot ASAP!

Trump’s occupation of DC has been shocking and horrifying – for immigrants, unhoused people, and youth of color who are brutally targeted by federal agents; for DC residents; and for people around the country wondering if their city is next and what it means for our future.
JUFJ and Sixth & I will hold a Shabbat Service, in partnership with Bend the Arc, T’ruah, and other Jewish organizations and synagogues, to sing, pray, and hold each other in community. Following the service, we will gather and march together as a Jewish contingent in the We Are All DC march and rally. For people joining from Baltimore, there are free buses leaving from Unite Here Local 7, 1800 N. Charles, at 8:30 AM. RSVP is required (see below), and buses will return by 6:00 PM.
The schedule of the day is as follows:
- 9:15 AM – buses leave from Baltimore, 1800 N. Charles
- 10:30 AM – 11:30 AM – Shabbat service at Malcolm X Park, Joan of Arc statue (near 16th & Belmont St. NW)
- 11:30 AM – 12:00 PM – Jewish contingent gathers at Malcolm X Park, Joan of Arc statue (near 16th & Belmont St. NW)
- 12:00 PM – march and then rally at Freedom Plaza
- If you are joining the march after it has left Malcolm X Park, look for people wearing tallitot and JUFJ signs and shirts
We encourage anyone coming to the service and march to bring a tallit, the prayer shawl as a symbol of our Jewish spiritual practice. If you have them, also please wear your JUFJ tshirt and bring any relevant JUFJ signs.
